Eugene Napoleon Flandin was a French landscape painter, born in Naples in 1809.
He produced various pictures with considerable success and in 1838 he was present throughout the campaign in Algeria, where he reproduced many landscapes.
In 1839 he was selected to pursue antiquarian investigations in Persia, and on the completion of his work he continued further researches in the East, publishing several works to describe his results. The most important of these is undoubtedly Voyage in Persia
