We were a little curious about what some of the highest selling paintings of all time were and decided to do a little research. We found the results very interesting, with Pablo Picasso appearing on the Top 40 list 10 times! Most of these high-selling masterpieces were painted in the mid 1900s and the most popular subject was figurative art, with abstract art at a very distant second. The highest priced painting was by abstract expressionist, Jackson Pollock, selling for $140 million in 2006 (an equivalent of £99.9 million today).
