The Romance of the Metropolis: London Map Art Print by Alice Tait

After the battering that our beloved London has taken in the last couple of weeks, whether it’s been coping with riots, economic turbulence or the frankly vile weather, a more celebratory mood has begun to emerge. This was kickstarted by the 2011 Notting Hill Carnival and continues with The Mayor’s Thames Festival 2011, which, despite running for 15 years, has been rather low key. However, I urge you to visit this event on Saturday 10th – Sunday 11th September (12 noon -10pm each day), with river racing, street entertainment and great food. A perfect opportunity if you’re looking to entertain the kids this weekend!

Above is a whimsical London map art print created by Alice Tait, focussing on the landmarks we know and love (and sometimes loathe) such as Harrods and the now iconic Gherkin. The artist has also completed a lovingly rendered map of our Gallic neighbour, Paris.
