A note to let you know that Degas and the Ballet: Picturing Movement opens this coming Saturday, the 17th of September 2011 at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. The exhibition promises to document the evolution of Edgar Degas‘ portrayal of ballet dancers throughout his life, from the early 1870s onwards. You may have seen my earlier article about how his influence remains to this day, and his renewed popularity is a precursor to an emerging ballet-influenced interiors trend (more on that to follow!).
