I can be your hero, baby: Father’s Day Sunday June 19 2011

Aha, it’s that time of year again when you have the headache of deciding what to get your Dad for Father’s Day – as if picking out presents for Christmas and his birthday aren’t bad enough?! Whilst mum can be fairly easy to shop for in terms of gifts, in all likelihood your Dad will recieve, year after year, the obligatory socks or bottle of whisky.

But it needn’t be this way and in 2011 I urge you to think differently!

Take note of your father’s personality and where his interests lie – perhaps a great art print or poster would reflect that?  Of course, you can pick from the traditional subjects of sport for his favourite football poster or cars but there’s much more on offer. Humour is loved by most of the men in our lives, so perhaps the comic strip sensibility of Roy Lichtenstein’s work would be appreciated.  There are also legendary posters from the Marvel Comics archive, so let’s hope your dad identifies more with Spiderman than that lovable loser Peter Griffin of Family Guy fame!  So, whatever you choose, make sure it’s guaranteed to make your dad smile!

Take a look at the appropriate sections of our gift guide for more inspiration. We also have gift vouchers if you think your dad would prefer to pick his own picture online, at his own leisure.
