Always the real thing: Coca-Cola turns 125

Events and Exhibitions

Coca Cola, Anonymous Art PrintCoca-Cola, created in 1886, has just turned 125 years old. This addictive sweet stuff, that makes you gasp with refreshment at the first fizzy sip, was originally formulated by John Pemberton as a patent medicine, that claimed to cure ailments such as morphine addiction, dyspepsia, headaches and impotence (really?)! It was businessman Asa Griggs Candler, however, who led Coke’s domination of the soft-drink market throughout the 20th century, ensuring that the unmistakeable lettering and contoured glass bottle became globally recognised.

The iconic status of this much loved (and at times, loathed) brand lends itself well to the current vogue for Vintage style posters, so take a look to see the full range of art prints and posters inspired by Coca-Cola.
