Zebras are a popular subject within art having been portrayed for over thousands of years – Jahangir, the fourth Mughal emperor commissioned a painting in the 17th century. When depicted in movies and cartoons, these black-and-white striped animals are most often miscellaneous characters, but have had some starring roles in animated films Madagascar and Racing Stripes.
