Solid wood internal frame
Famed for their simplicity Albers worked on the Homage to the Square series from 1949 until his death in 1976. The works are generally composed of four nested squares placed in a geometrically determined order, although he often omitted one of the inner squares so as to give greater prominence to a particular colour. Colours in the works were chosen on the basis of how they interacted with each other, with the artist's intention to show how different colours influence each other and change our perception of form.
