Solid wood internal frame
An original fine art litho poster published by Tate. Kandinsky was one of the pioneers of abstract painting and worked with geometrical forms from the mid 1920s. Although it makes no reference to the outside world, his work summons up the exciting rhythms of contemporary life. The title of this painting conveys a sense of dynamic movement. Ironically, Kandinsky's move into abstraction came in response to his feelings of revulsion at the materialism of modern life. An art freed from the depiction of objects seemed to offer a solution to his spiritual crisis.
