Stephen was born and grew up in the East End of London. He briefly studied Graphic Design but is largely self taught as an artist and has drawn for as long as he can remember.
Stephens work has the freedom of naïve childlike doodling, with the authority of a mature controlled graphic line technique. He is inspired by text and bold design, 20th century popular culture and autobiographical images that combine to create a world of confusion and fun. Stephen says of his work A line is free, a line is moving, a line dances and is never ending.
Stephens work is held in collections in London, New York, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Milan, France and Australia and featured in editorials and publications including The Guardian, The Independent on Sunday and The Art Newspaper.
