Louis Gavotto was born in Vallauris, France in 1939. He studied at the Marseille and Nice faculty at the School of Cannes and later became a mathematics teacher at Vallauris college.
In 1963, Gavotto's career as an artist began. Working in the Ateliers of his wife and Roger Collet, he decorated pottery. In 1980 he started engraving, monotype modelling, nude sculpture and painting in water colours, in which he excels today. Since 1983, he has taken part in exhibitions and has won numerous prizes around Europe for his water-colour originals.
