Born on 30 April 1832, Johann Hofner was a painter of animal and genre scenes.
After his schooling, he became a pupil of Piloty whilst living in Munich, Germany. He then went on to exhibit his paintings from 1863, in both Munich and Vienna. One of his paintings can be seen in the museum in Munich. Johann Hofner died on 29 June 1913, in Munich
