Born near Glasgow in 1961, Scottish artist Joan Somerville is entirely self-taught. Her career as a fulltime artist began over ten years ago, and since then her work has been snapped up by collectors. She was chosen as one of five major prize-winners in the Smith Art Gallery and Museum's eBrave Arti competition and her winning painting is now part of the museum's permanent collection in Stirling. Group and solo exhibitions quickly followed at the ICC in Birmingham, Harrods and Selfridges in London, and several galleries in New York.
