Born in Yorkshire, Janet Davies grew up in a literary and musical atmosphere in Surrey. An avid piano player and concert-goer, she also loves books. Having attended the Reigate and Sutton School of Art during the 1960s, when she was awarded the David Murray Award from the Royal Academy, she pursued a career teaching art for 16 years.
Usually working in oil, Janet Davies draws much inspiration from the natural world - the skies, the trees and, above all, the flowers. She is an inspired and passionate gardener and, having lived in rural England for many years, she moved to a wild area of South West France in 1990 to follow a life of artistic solitude. Janet Davies has exhibited at home and abroad in many prestigious venues and her work is in collections all over the world.
