Henry Lejeune art prints and posters 2 items

The British artist Henry Lejeune was born in 1819. He painted figurative, historical and rural scenes and his sentimental depictions of children established a trend which was followed by many artists in the 19th century.

In 1845, Lejeune became a drawing master at the Royal Academy and, in 1848, he was elevated to the position of curator. He became an Associate of the Royal Academy in 1863.

From 1840-1894 he exhibited at the Royal Academy and his work was also shown at Suffolk Street and at the British Institution. His works can now be seen in many museums and collections, including the Manchester City and Salford Art Galleries. Henry Lejeune died in 1894.
