Henk van Zanten was born in Holland in 1940. He spent the first ten years of his life in Holland. At the age of ten, he moved with his family to South Africa and this sparked his interest in African wildlife.
Henk van Zanten is primarily a self taught artist, although he studied for one year each at both the Billainsley School of Art and the Johannesburg School of Art. He works mainly in oil on both canvas and board. Inspired by artists including Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper, Henk van Zanten has participated in many exhibitions, both in his native Holland and as far afield as Dallas.
