Edwin Thomas Roberts art prints and posters

Edwin Thomas was an English nineteenth century painter of genre subjects. He was born in London, the son of Thomas Edward Roberts, in 1840. Between 1862 and 1886 he regularly exhibited at Suffolk Street, and at the Royal Academy between 1882 and 1884. Roberts was an instant success at the Royal Academy, where his pictures were highly regarded.

Roberts regularly used children as his subjects, and he would portray them in an almost comic manner. This style proved enormously popular with the Victorian public of the day, and his work is still widely admired today. Roberts died in 1917.
