Born in 1865, in Edinburgh, Scotland, Arthur Claude Strachan was a fine landscape watercolorist, and is now best known for his beautiful and sentimental pictures of flower-wreathed cottages and village scenes.

He exhibited in London and in the provinces between 1885-1929 and he also showed four works at the Royal Academy, two of which were landscapes of North Wales. His paintings were exhibited in Liverpool (1885-1896), Warwick (1895), Evesham (1893), New Brighton (1914) and Glasgow (1929).

Strachan also exhibited at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, the Walker Art Gallery and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water-colour.
