Annrika McCavitt was born and brought up in England by her Greek and English parents. Her mother had actually been born in Egypt and raised in Istanbul, and the cosmopolitan nature of her background infused the artists childhood with a richness of foreign climes and exotic ideas. Even the name "Annrika" comes from Greece.
As a child, she was taken by her parents to the great cathedrals, museums and archaeological sites of Europe and she believes that this legacy of appreciation for classical simplicity and love of the human form is conveyed in the vibrant drawings and figure studies she completes now.
Annrika McCavitt studied at the William Morris School of Art and at the Central School of Art and Design in London, where she obtained a BA in textile design. She was granted a travel scholarship by the Royal Society of Arts to study fashion and textile design in Europe, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society during her career in that field.
Annrika states: "I enjoy the art of drawing, whether it be an animal, a flower or the human body. My aim is to express the sensual curves and grace of my subject in a way that is tasteful and pleasing to the eye.". She adds: "My main focus in life is my own spiritual evolution and enlightenment. That alone enhances everything I do."
Away from the art world, Annrika McCavitt enjoys the countryside, horse-riding, growing things and developing her ranch in the White Mountains.
