Alan Scales art prints and posters

Alan Scales

Alan lived in Paris during the early 1960s and spent many hours photographing iconic and intriguing Paris scenes and street activity with his Leica and Rolliflex cameras. Focusing on artists and poets, statues and still life, trees in winter, people, places and moored rowing boats, his photographs were influenced by the great French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson.

He returned to London in 1967 to work for the BBC as a documentary film cameraman and went on to become a producer and director of many highly acclaimed TV documentaries. In 1993 he set up his own TV production company - Imagicians - and since then he’s been busy in all aspects of television production and multimedia.work. He returns to Paris regularly and in 2013 his unique collection of Paris photographs, capturing a long forgotten face of the French capital, were featured in a successful exhibition in London entitled Paris in the Sixties.
