What is canvas art

Canvas art prints are printed images on a canvas fabric (which have been stretched over an internal, wooden frame), the finished product is often referred to as canvas art. Easyart canvas art is stylish, lightweight and affordable, which is why they have become a popular choice for many of our customers and a great ‘ready to hang’ alternative to framed art.

How to choose canvas art

Start by choosing your perfect image from our great canvas art range. This range features carefully selected images that we know work brilliantly as canvas art. Next, make sure to select the perfect size and edging style. We offer three canvas art sizes for you to chose from and the option to finish your canvas art with a plain white edge, a coloured edge or a mirrored edge.

What materials do we use?

Our canvas art is printed on high quality synthetic canvas fabric, which is designed to look and feel like traditional natural ‘cotton’ canvas. Besides the look and feel, the material we use has been specially chosen by our experienced publishers because of its exceptional print quality and resistance to light and moisture damage. The pine-wood we use for the internal frames of the canvas art is FSC (Forest Stewards Council) certified, making sure that the wood is reliably sourced and sustainably grown. The internal frames are 5cm thick, which is the perfect thickness to make sure your canvas print stands out well from the wall.

How is canvas art printed?

Our canvas art is printed using the highest, museum quality digital print method called Giclee printing. Coupled with the high quality canvas material we use, this print process allows us to accurately reproduce any of your favourite art styles, from photography to watercolour.

How is canvas art made?

First, an internal wood frame is hand-crafted to fit your chosen image size. The corners of the frame are carefully joined to make sure the frame is stable. The canvas material is then cut and hand-stretched over the internal wood frame and fixed at the rear, so that the frame is no longer visible. Finally, the finished product is inspected and approved by our quality controller.

In the printing room, artworks are printed on state-of-the-art machines with a team of technicians checking colour and quality every step of the way.

Measuring Up

After being cut down to size, our team carefully finish any stray edges, check measurements and prepare the prints for mounting and framing.

Assembling Frames in the Framing Workshop

We have a team of master framers who work with high-quality, responsibly-sourced wood to create our vast range of framing combinations - each frame is bespoke and made to order for every print.

Hand-finishing in the Framing Workshop

Our selection of hand-finished frames are painted or stained by hand in a variety of colours, and finished with a layer of wax - the end result is a uniquely crafted, beautiful frame that is made to last.

The Last Stop

In this workshop everything comes together - the print, the frame and the glass - in a seamless and stream-lined process.

Mounting the Prints

The artwork is carefully mounted in preparation for framing.

Laying the Glass

Once mounted, the print is ready to be covered by glass or perspex - a delicate procedure but expertly done with not a fingerprint in sight.

The Final Product

After a final, thorough check, the framed print is ready to be carefully packaged up and shipped to the customer.

Transferring to Canvas

For those who order their art as canvas prints, the same amount of attention and care goes into the process. Here, the print is being transferred to a wooden frame.

Finishing the Canvas Edging

As with the framed prints, our canvases are all hand-finished in the workshop - a labour of love from start to finish.
