About this print

This high quality print is based on a watercolour on paper of Agarica, truffles, moths and butterflies with some species identified and named as the Rock-underwing butterfly and female Puss Moth (Cerura vinula). The work is attributed to Thomas Robins the Elder, an English landscape and flower artist who trained as a fan painter. Date: circa 1734-1770.
