On January 26th 1969 students carved the head of a panda into the chalk on a hillside to the north of Salisbury at Laverstock. This was a part of the rag week for University College of North Wales students. The following year the head was remodelled as depicted in my painting when I saw it in 1974 This hill figure has now disappeared and is overgrown but when the sun is at a certain angle the outline can still be made out.
