This high quality print is based on a watercolour on board of a flower of Cattleya Gladiator (Cattleya dowiana × Cattleya Gladys) painted by the artist Nellie Roberts. This orchid was given an award of merit by the Orchid Committee in July 1929 and was grown by the horticultural author F J Hanbury (1851-1938) at his home in East Grinstead, England. Nellie Roberts was appointed by the RHS in 1897 to paint Orchids. She was awarded the VMM in 1953.
