This high quality print is based on a chromolithographic illustration of Verbena sorts, showing V. Gloire de Cuire, V. Mahonetti, V. superba, V. alba and V. Croix de Malte. Lithographed by L. Stroobant of Ghent, after an original by P. Lambotte (fl. 1860s-1870s). From Les Promenades de Paris, by Jean Charles Adolphe Alphand (1817-1891), published in Paris between 1867 and 1873. The work contains illustrations of a variety of aspects of the French capital, including views of historic Parisian gardens and portraits of some of the plants cultivated in them. [Plate 44].
