Cover of the 1911-1912 Späth nursery catalogue. Founded in 1720 by Christoph Späth the nursery relocated in 1869 when Franz Ludwig Späth (1839 - 1913) became manager. Following L. Späth's death his son Hellmut took over and went on to gain valuable landscaping contracts from the Nazi party. His subsequent criticism of the Nazi regime led to his imprisonment and execution in 1945.
