Lasting just a day, these waxy flowers lined my Grandparent driveway in Suffolk England. This was the first thing I would see as I got out of the car when we visited them in the summer. My Mother encouraged me to break off the older flower heads, the ones that had had their day, she would tell me that this would encourage the younger flowers to bloom. I can still feel and hear the snap they made as I broke them off, and the feel of the waxy pod in my hand.
