Perhaps every artist at some point produces a religious painting. I am not deeply religious, nor do I subscribe to any one faith. I do believe that there is a higher power however, its apparent to me when I observe and paint nature. I also find the story of Jesus fascinating, and what I know of the Bible, intriguing. Its really up to you, the observer, to assess how you feel about this painting, and to draw your own conclusions. For me its about bringing an old story into a modern context, perhaps it will provoke more dialog about this truly extraordinary person.
