This poppy painting really exploits the sumptuous vibrant qualities of oil paint. It forms a cornerstone in my collection of floral pieces, dating from around the late 90's. I have always loved poppies, and I can remember them populating the edges of the strawberry fields that surrounded my childhood home in Kent, England. The contrast of the velvet petals with the purple and green centers is stunning, and the more one investigates the details of this plant, the more fascinating it is.
