Alexander Greek Thomson's church in Caledonia Road, Gorbals, Glasgow was built as a classic Greek temple. The tower over the church is however completely original, following no historical precedents. The Greek classical style did not feature towers and Thomson would have found no examples from antiquity to guide him. The tower features intricate carvings around the space that was intended for the clock which was never installed.
