The Chalice Well lies in a peaceful garden at the base of Glastonbury Tor, full of legends of holy grail and more ! My painting shows the well decorated at harvest time in autumn, with a border of yew and holy thorn, which grow abundantly in the garden. The holy thorn is said to have been brought to Glastonbury from the holy land by Jesus's uncle, Joseph of Arimathea, and flowers at Christmas and Easter. The well water from a natural spring is very rich in iron and much collected to drink locally. The original painting in chromacolour/acrylic was 50cm square. sold
