Holmewood, Derbyshire, 1973. This picture, taken in the Derbyshire mining village of Holmewood, draws on two of McPhee's favourite subjects: children and the landscape of the north. McPhee captures this simple scene of childhood from a low angle. This is a tender picture of two boys absorbed in activity on the street in which they live.
