Shepherd with sheep, Malvern Hills, 23 April 2003. Shepherd Richard Smith, employed by the Malvern Hills Conservators as part of a grazing project in the Area of Outstanding Beauty. Sheep have been introduced after a gap of 20 years in an effort to return the bracken and tree-lined slopes to traditional grassland. Local farmers have been reluctant to graze stock on the hills because of dog worrying.
