A love of craftsmanship and objects as a source of beauty is reflected in Richard Hall’s work. He attributes this, in part, to his Grandfather, a master craftsman, whom he enjoyed watching at work with traditional tools and methods, whilst he was growing up in the industrial heart of Northern England.
Born in Bradford, Yorkshire, in 1952, Richard attended both the Sheffield College of Art and the Kingston Upon Hull College of Art. After earning his Master of Fine Arts at Sussex University, he moved from England to Southwest United States, where he now pursues a versatile range of painting and sculpture. Some of his works are minimalist and ethereal, whilst others display remarkable depth and antiquity: All are universally and enthusiastically sought after. In 1990, Richard also became the Director of the Atelier division of Phoenix Art Group.
