John Kirkwood Art Prints and Posters
Born in 1953, John is a self-employed chef with a more than casual interest in photography, especially land and seascapes around the Northeast coast of England.
Ever since he was a boy visiting local beaches with his father during winter storms, John has always been amazed by the power of the sea, and his main objective in photography is to capture and portray to others the awesome power of the huge wind-driven waves that crash against the granite walls of the lighthouses around his home city of Sunderland, hopefully evoking the same emotions he feels himself.
One of his dramatic lighthouse images adorns the front cover of the new British reference book “Lighthouses” by Lynn F Pearson, for Shire Publications. He has also won numerous competitions, most notably the Nikon In-Frame “Photo of the Month” award, which resulted in one of his images being displayed in the October 2012 exhibition at the Getty Image Gallery, London.
