A professional photographer, Ian first took up photography seriously over 30 years ago and is now based in the New Forest National Park, England. There he lives with his long suffering wife Julia, who strives for a relaxing time abroad, instead of being dragged up before dawn in all weathers to fulfil Ian’s professional career!
Locations are researched well in advance and he often spends days returning to the same place and then hours waiting for the correct conditions to capture the scene.
Inspired by nature, particularly light and weather, Ian endeavours to communicate its interaction with the scene in a unique way. This interaction manifests itself both in Ian’s misty dawn images and while out on the water, producing stunning yachting images combining elements of tide, wind and light.
Through his planning and capture of the atmosphere at a given time, be it a frosty New Forest dawn, a misty Tuscan sunrise, a classic yacht battling upwind or storm clouds over wetlands in Australia, Ian demonstrates his passion in a unique way.
He communicates his inspiration further through the numerous photographic workshops that he operates for every level from beginner to advanced, together with commercial and private commissions and writing for books and magazines.
