Henry Stannard was born in 1884 in Woburn, England. He was the son of the artist, John Stannard, from whom he received his early inspiration and tutoring. As his talent blossomed, he moved to London to study.
He painted a wide range of subjects, from landscapes to fox-hunts, and from birds to horse-racing. Stannard was also a talented writer. He died in 1920.
