Frederick Hall Art Prints and Posters
Between 1883 and 1898 he was a Member of the Newlyn School in Cornwall with Stanhope Forbes, Bramley and their followers. His pictures show their influence in the way of social realism and "plein-air" painting.
Hall also catered for the popular taste for pictures that tell a story. A popular sideline of this artist was his caricature drawings, and it is the very variety of his work that causes difficulty in pigeon-holing him.
Stanhope Forbes described Hall as "something of a mystery". Using the combination of line and content necessary to caricature and colour and technique involved in impressionism, Fred Hall achieved a remarkable effect.
