I grew up in Derbyshire near the outstanding Peak District National Park. My early influences include the work of locally acclaimed artists such as Joseph Wright and the later French impressionist painter, Renoir.
The subjects I choose have to inspire me in some way. There, is nothing more beautiful than the natural world and this is reflected in much of my art. I always look for interesting colour or, shape. Every picture that I produce has to be one that I would be happy to live with.
